Since 1987 the traditional tourist and commercial manifestation called “Slaninijada” in which participate the best manufacturers of bacon and sausage from Serbia has been held in village Kačarevo near Pančevo.

The entire Palić region lies on sandy terrain near by the prehistoric Pannonian Sea. That’s why wines from this area are commonly referred to as sand wines. The sandy soil, a moderate continental climate and top grape varieties yield very appealing wines. The Subotica-Horgoš area has a winemaking tradition that goes back well over 2,000 years.

The Bacon Festival is one of the most well known gourmet events in Serbia. With a long history (it was first celebrated in 1988), it’s an authentic tourist attraction in Kačarevo, in northern Serbia. It’s the ideal place to taste different kinds of bacon and sausages, discover “the best bacon” in a big competition and enjoy traditional products such as handmade candies or chocolates.
