With the mission of showcasing healthy, naturally produced, fresh tasting and beautiful prepared food, ten years ago, the Taste of West Cork Festival was born, a premier event which encompasses the entire food producing community in West Cork. This region has a proud reputation for producing some of the best artisan food in Ireland.
Set in the heart of picturesque West Cork, the town of Skibbereen is situated on the banks of the Ilen River and close to the dramatic rugged Atlantic coast line, offering an ideal location from which to explore the surrounding scenic countryside and participate in the tours and events of the festival.
A Taste of West Cork Food Festival is fast becoming a not to be missed event in the international food calendar. It brings together a unique mix of diverse activities, from gastronomy demonstrations to tours around the city. Cookery competitions, tours to organic farms, food tasting, open air markets, interactive workshops, cooking demonstrations, sea shore foraging, historical tours of the town, children’s events.
The 2015 Festival is set to be bigger and better and will include the much loved traditional open air street food and craft markets, daily walks, interactive workshops, themed nights in restaurants in Skibbereen and beyond the already famous Celtic Cook off, traditional music nights and many special events.
