Berry picking in autumn is a very traditional thing in Iceland, as making traditional jams and products from it. Important part of these events is tasting and eating your in good company. 

Many small local events will be in all of West Iceland area (the town of Stykkisholmur is marked on the map above only to point out the area of the festival, further information on West Iceland on www.westiceland.is).

The Crowberry Festival is held every year in autumn. Besides berry picking it is also the time of year to collect mushrooms. During the festival all kinds of activities are organised, such as:

  • Courses in the making of jams

  • Mushroom picking course – mushroom theme dinner

  • Introduction to the natural coloring of yarns using Icelandic plants and lichens

  • Autumn decoration course
